Scandals are part of entertainment package, says Dele Odule

He said, “Social media has its good and bad sides. It has added value to our work, but sadly, many use it recklessly to tarnish reputations. Fame and scandal go hand in hand; you just have to make sure your image stays clean by avoiding crime. I’m not perfect, but I try to stay upright.”
On how he handles unnecessary arguments, the actor said, “I have learnt not to talk too much or argue unnecessarily. If what’s being said doesn’t harm my career, I simply say, ‘I’ve heard you.’ As long as I’m not accused of any crime, I don’t take things to heart. If someone says, ‘Dele has 10 children,’ I’ll just agree. After all, is it a crime to have many children if you can care for them?”
He campaigned in favour of polygamy saying, “Polygamy is part of African culture. I’m not saying everyone should do it, but if a man can responsibly care for multiple wives, why not? What I frown upon is irresponsibility. Western culture says one man, one wife, but we are Africans. The key is being responsible and disciplined.”
He also reacted to claims that his young lover recently broke his heart.
Odule stated, “Someone even said it was a 200-level student. I laughed. My first daughter is a lecturer with a PhD; how can a 200-level student break my heart? That would be silly. If I were ever to be involved with a 200-level student, she would just be a passing fancy; nothing serious.
“The truth is, people now use social media for clout and money, even at the expense of integrity. I have heard worse things about myself. At a time, people claimed I had 10 children with 10 women. I simply agreed; after all, it’s not a crime in Nigeria. If it’s a sin, I’ll face it when I get to heaven. I don’t take such talks personally. Most of what I post is meant to inspire; people just choose to twist them.”
