Lagos State Governor’s Quiz: Vetland School emerges winner

Students of Vetland Senior Grammar School, Ifako-Ijaiye, have emerged champion of this year’s Lagos State Governor’s Quiz competition.

They beat their counterparts from Amuwo Odofin Senior Secondary School, Mile 2 and the Lagos State Senior Model College, Igbonla to the second and third positions, respectively.

Mr Ganiu Lawal, Spokesman for Lagos State Ministry of Education, said in a statement that the annual competition was aimed at building confidence as well as boost the knowledge of students.

It noted that Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, Commissioner for Education, stated that the government had continued to engage the students with various competitions in a bid to access their improvement in academics.

“This initiative is to broaden the students’ horizon, enable them to adopt various skills like research, teamwork and collaboration, thereby preparing them for the future and global opportunities.

“The Governor’s Quiz competition was not only initiated to checkmate the students, but to also ensure that they are on top of their studies, it will also give them a wider scope on their core subjects and general studies.

” I congratulate all our exceptional students that have transited to this stage while assuring you all that everyone is a winner and we are indeed proud of you,” the statement said.

It added that Adefisayo advised the children in the state to devote more time to their academics in order to attain excellence and have a bright future.
