The candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State, Engr Segun Oni has cautioned governor Kayode Fayemi against forcing teachers and civil servants to vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress during the forthcoming poll.
Oni alleged that he had uncovered a new plot by Fayemi’s administration to force teachers in Ekiti State to work for the APC candidate, Mr. Biodun Oyebamiji in the June 18 governorship election.
In a press release issued in Ado Ekiti by the Director of Media and Publicity, Segun Oni Movement, Jackson Adebayo, the SDP flag bearer alleged that he has it on good authority that the education secretaries in all the 16 local governments areas of the state have been instructed to persuade the teachers to drop their voter’s cards for the government.
This is to fast-track their promotions and access to housing and car loans.
Oni alleged that teachers, who refused to cooperate are being threatened with transfer to areas that are not convenient to them.
According to Oni, “the education secretaries across the local government have been given free spaces to hold political meetings where attendance of teachers are being taken to ascertain those who belong to the APC camp and those who are not”

The SDP candidate alleged also that the education secretaries were also given a marching order to sanction teachers that were recalcitrant to comply with the order.
He implored all the teachers not to fall for the antics of the APC government in the state as they are known to be enemies of teachers hence they usually come up with draconian policies against them whenever they are in government.
