Tinubu helped Adeleke win, Davido must back president’s re-election – Delta gov’s aide

Ossai Ovie Success, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Ossai made the call in a statement issued on Sunday, arguing that Davido’s uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, understood the political dynamics surrounding his recent re-election and the alleged role played by Tinubu in the outcome.

According to him, Tinubu played a significant role in Adeleke’s victory in the Osun governorship election, despite the governor contesting on the platform of the Accord Party.

“President Tinubu played a key role in ensuring Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in Osun, even though Adeleke ran under the Accord,” Ossai said.

He said Tinubu’s alleged support for Adeleke demonstrated that the President was willing to rise above party considerations and allow the electorate to freely determine its choice.

“That singular act showed that Tinubu is a father to all and believes in free and fair elections,” he said.

Ossai therefore argued that Davido should reciprocate what he described as Tinubu’s support for his uncle by backing the President’s bid for a second term in 2027.

“So it is only expected that Davido will, and must, support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, just as his uncle did,” the Delta governor’s aide said.

He said Davido’s recent comments indicating that he would not support Tinubu in 2027 appeared to stem from disappointment and a limited understanding of the political circumstances surrounding his uncle’s victory.

“A few days ago, Davido was speaking carelessly about not supporting Tinubu,” Ossai said.

“What he doesn’t know is that his uncle, a seasoned politician, understands that without Tinubu’s support, that Osun victory would not have been possible.”

The Delta governor’s aide further expressed confidence that Adeleke would personally explain the political situation to Davido and make him understand why supporting Tinubu in 2027 would be the appropriate political decision.

“In a few days, Uncle Adeleke will sit Davido down and explain the full gist to him — why supporting President Tinubu for 2027 is the right political move,” he said.

Ossai also described Davido as relatively young and suggested that the singer’s limited experience in politics could have influenced his recent public comments about the President.

“Davido is still young. He doesn’t fully understand how politics works, which is why he has been tweeting with so much disappointment,” he said.

Ossai said he was disappointed by Davido’s position, but expressed hope that the singer would reconsider it after gaining a fuller understanding of the political developments surrounding his uncle’s re-election.

“I am disappointed,” he said.
