A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges and urged citizens to support ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and security agencies to restore peace nationwide.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye said the Tinubu administration had demonstrated a strong commitment to tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.
He pointed to President Bola Tinubu’s Democracy Day address, in which the President reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorists and their collaborators.
“The ultimatum issued to bandits, kidnappers and sponsors of terrorism shows that their days are numbered,” Oyintiloye said.
While acknowledging the pain of families affected by abductions and terrorist attacks, the former lawmaker urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country’s security institutions.
“We share the pain of parents, families and relatives of victims currently devastated by mass abductions and ongoing killings. However, we must remain hopeful and continue to support government efforts to rescue those in captivity and bring perpetrators to justice,” he said.
According to him, intelligence and security agencies are intensifying operations aimed at identifying, apprehending and prosecuting those responsible for violent crimes.
“No criminal element will be allowed to undermine the peace and stability of the nation,” he stated.
Oyintiloye also called on security chiefs to continuously review operational strategies where necessary to improve results in the fight against criminality.
He urged state governors to complement federal efforts by providing logistical and operational support to security agencies within their jurisdictions.
The APC chieftain stressed that sustainable economic growth and development could only thrive in a peaceful and secure environment.
“A nation with a strong and effective security system is better positioned for accelerated development, economic prosperity and sustainable social services,” he said.
He further urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information and continue supporting efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace across the country.
