By Cajetan Mmuta, Awka
The Angelican Bishop of Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo local Government Area of Enugu State, Rev. Daniel Olinya has raised an alarm over presence of suspected fake policemen in some polling units in the area.

The Bishop told journalists on Saturday at Umuokpara polling unit in Imuhu community, that people who claimed to be policemen allegedly did not have Identity cards.

He also alleged that the said policemen who wore mufti and bathroom slippers charged at him when he demanded that they properly identify themselves.

Aside the allegation, the election is generally peaceful in polling stations monitored across the state.

According to the cleric, “When I got there, members of a particular political party were intimidating voters who they feel are not in support of their party. When I spoke, they shouted me down.”

“I asked about the presence of policemen and a lady on bathroom slippers showed up. When I enquired about her ID card, she showed me a cap. This is the situation in all the polling units in Eha-Amufu; the police have refused to protect the ballot.”

“We are calling on the Commissioner of Police to do something about this ugly situation,” Bishop Olinya stated.
