Ebonyi PDP governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii has decried pockets of violence tending the governorship and state Assembly general election in Ebonyi state.

Dr Odii made this known while interacting with newsmen on his impression about the ongoing general election in his country home, Isu Onicha local government area.

He alleged that thugs loyal to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC have been going about disrupting election process in Ohaozara, Afikpo north and South and virtually all local government areas in the state.

The governorship candidate also alleged that the thugs have gone ahead to burn ballot papers and snatch ballot boxes in places where their party cannot win.

He called on the Independent National Electoral commission INEC to invoke the provision electoral act which empowers her to cancel election where there is violence.

On the turn out of electorate, Odii lamented that a lot of people could not come out due to threats coming from the ruling party which scared them away.

He wondered why the ruling APC would be involved in electoral violence if they think they are on ground and can win election’s.

“Yes, the report has been coming in from different local governments . You know APC they are very desperate, because if they are prepared for election, I don’t think They will go about, disrupt the process in Ohaozara, Afikpo North and South, virtually almost all the local government .

‘What they are doing is burning of ballot papers and results that is what they do but we have talking to security agencies to beef off more securities .

“Of course yes, the new electoral act said so when there are Violence’, INEC electoral commissioner should immediately cancel the elections in the area which I’m sure they have reported and will continue to report .

” In some areas yes , people came out very well and some areas, because of the trait from the APC government of using thugs, of course they are doing that and it actually scared people away .
