
Honourable Kingsley Chinda, representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency of Rivers State, has emerged the leader of the minority caucus in the House of Representatives.
According to reports, Chinda, who is the anointed candidate of the immediate-past governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike, was selected during a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) minority caucus in Abuja on Thursday.
It was gathered that Honourable Oluwole Oke, the preferred candidate of the PDP presidential flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, had to withdraw from the race after Chinda emerged through a unanimous decision.
Oluwole represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State.
ThisNigeria reported on Wednesday that the PDP G5 members backed the emergence of Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as the House of Representatives speaker.
Speaking during a media briefing on Wednesday, Wike said that Akpabio’s emergence is “clear testimony that Nigerians are interested in the unity of the country”.
“Rivers state and the G5 Governors all supported Akpabio because we couldn’t stop our support midway.
“I don’t believe that Akpabio will be rubber stamped. I also supported him because he equally supported me when I was running for governorship.

“Akpabio is a competent, qualified and educated person. He is an orator who can represent this country anywhere. What other qualifications do you want?, the former governor said.
