Anambra Decides: Gov Soludo Leads With 98 Percent Victory In 19 LGAs Declared By INEC

The Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and incumbent Governor of Anambra state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has been declared winner in all the 19 local government areas of the state.

The announcement was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the governorship election held on Saturday.

Soludo polled the highest vote with about 98 percent above all other contestants in all the results announced.

Among the local government areas where INEC has so far declared Soludo winner according to the results so far announced last night are: Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Aguata and Ekwusigo respectively.

Others include Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum and Anambra East.

The election took place across the 21 local government areas in Anambra State.

The results of the poll are yet to be announced in two local government areas of Ihiala and Anambra West.

The top officials of the INEC and others during the count, announced an hour break and are expected to continue with the results declaration on Sunday.

Prof. Soludo on emergence as elected governor, will be serving another four years term in office to complete his eight years as governor of the state .

Historically, Charlie Nwamgbafor will also be the third governor after former governor of the state and 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano.

All the three governors were elected under the platform of APGA.
