Beninese to donate blood to save lives

Benin’s Minister of Health, Prof. Benjamin Hounkpatin, has appealed to his compatriots to donate blood at this time of shortage in blood banks.
In his message on the World Blood Donor Day, Hounkpatin noted that “the demand for labile blood products in our hospitals is always frequent among women because of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth.”
According to him, “it is even more pronounced among children aged 5 years and below because of malaria and among road accident victims”.
“It will be difficult for us to meet all this demand if there are not enough blood donors. This is why, through this year’s theme, ‘Give your blood to make the world’s heart beat’, I invite all Beninese, especially the young, to sow this seed of unselfish concern and sharing everywhere and regularly.
“Become a volunteer blood donor! It is better to start young,” he stressed.
