Babangida Aliyu is a mole in PDP – Wike

By Emma Obe
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said alleged that former Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, is a liability in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), whose interest is to see to the final collapse of the party.

Wike was responding to a newspaper interview in which Aliyu alluded to the fact that the Rivers State Governor was acting like a dictator bent on replacing the current National Working Committee of the PDP for personal ends.

The governor, who addressed a press briefing at Government House, Port Harcourt denied harboring any plans as alleged by Aliyu to remove the National Chairman of the party, Chief Uche Secondus, or the NWC for that matter.

He however faulted the process by which the National Executive Committee of the PDP passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee of the party at an emergency meeting, which ought not to deliberate on such a matter. He said the matter should have been on the agenda of the meeting, circulated ahead to members.

The governor said he would have objected to the deliberation on the vote of confidence motion was he at the meeting because it did not comply with the rules.

He said if there was anyone that was a liability to the PDP, it was the former Niger State Governor, who he said confessed to working against the party in the 2015 general elections that resulted in the situation the country has found itself in today.

“He is a rabble-rouser and perpetual blackmailer. He is a chronic our and a serial betrayer,” Wike said of Aliyu, who he alleged was only in the PDP to get information to ferret to the ruling party. He added that he was surprised that the NWC was accommodating someone, who had confessed to working against the party in a crucial election.

He asked Aliyu to go to his state, hold the party Congress, and return the PDP if he believed he was strong enough a party man. “I challenge Babangida Aliyu to a debate and I will show him how to win elections,” Wike declared.

Wike said he was ready to go on suspension from the party as canvassed by Aliyu to see who would lose in the end. “NWC, listen to Babangida Aliyu. Don’t only suspend me. Expel me from the party,” he charged.
