Tambuwal has paid heavily for betraying his friend, Wike – Fayose

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has mocked former Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal, whose candidate lost in the March 18th gubernatorial election conducted in the state.

In a video shared online, Fayose described Tambuwal as treacherous for betraying his friend, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary.

Recall that Tambuwal had stepped down for Atiku Abubakar during the exercise, thereby truncating Wike’s chances of securing the ticket.

Speaking on Tambuwal’s loss, Fayose said “‘My name is Ayo Fayose, I’m so excited tonight and I’m celebrating the victory of the PDP and my friend in the APC.

“But let me quickly say this, I’m so excited, particularly by the loss of Governor Tambuwal’s candidate in Sokoto, this is payback time. You see, when a man is treacherous, this is what happens to him.

“He betrayed the party in 2015, he ran back. He Asiwaju he went to meet in APC. He also betrayed Wike his beloved friend, he has paid heavily for betraying Wike who sponsored his aspiration in 2019.

“This is payback time and I appreciate the people of Sokoto for voting against Tambuwal. It’s time to pop champagne to this defeat, Tambuwal is gone.”
