Akwa Ibomites were granted tax holidays by the state governor, Emmanuel Udom, but it seemed short-lived as illegal tax collectors have been harassing traders for payment of taxes.
In response to the traders’ lamentations, Gov Udom has ordered security officials to embark on arrest and prosecution of anyone caught soliciting payment of taxes in the state. The governor’s order was passed on by Comrade Ini Ememobong, Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
Comrade Ini made it known that Akwa Ibomites can still enjoy the tax holiday and no one should deprive them of it. And traders should make a report of anyone trying to molest or extort them.
