Suspected assassins on Wednesday night killed the Labour Party candidate for Enugu East senatorial district in Saturday’s election, Mr. Oyibo Chukwu.
Also, all the five occupants of the vehicle in which the LP Senatorial candidate was travelling with were not spared by the gunmen.
Gruesomely, both Mr. Chukwu and the five others were set ablaze to burn in the same vehicle by their killers

The incident took place at Amechi, Awkunanaw Local Government Area of Enugu state on their way back from a political rally.
In his reaction to the incident, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in the state, Chijioke Edeoga, who also confirmed it to newsmen, said his party members were being targeted for assassination by political parties which felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state.
Unknown gunmen in the Southeast have been on rampage in the area.
The armed group have vowed to stop the election in the region, a development security agencies vowed to nip in the bud and urged the people to disregard it.

The State Police command is yet to react to the incident as of the time of filing this report.
