Three top members of Edo PDP dump party, give reasons

Three top members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State on Wednesday resigned their membership of the party.
The decision of the members may not be far-fetched from the political crisis rocking the state, however, the three members gave their reasons.
The members are: Hon (High Chief) Abas Momoh Jega, Former PDP Leader, Etsako East; Omoruyi Nosakhare, House of Assembly candidate and Hon. Kémi Aimufua, Former Chairperson, Ovia South West.
In Jega’s resignation letter addressed to the party’s LGA chairman in Etsako East, he blamed his action on the activities of the new leaders of the party that took over in 2020 and the failed promises of the state governor, Godwin Obaseki.
“It is very clear to me that since the emergence of the new leadership in the party in 2020 it has metamorphosed from a disciplined, well directed party into a party that lacks discipline, respect and total disregard for party leaders and rules of engagement known to the party since 1999 when I became a key player and financier of the party in my Local Government Area,” Jega stated.

He noted that he was leaving the party with his followers.
On his part, Nosakhare, who addressed Udo Ward chairman said he was leaving the party because of the unfair way staff of Edo State College of Agriculture were treated.
The politician also blamed the party for its dishonest way of resolving internal crisis, while stressing that his ambition was truncated.
He wrote, “My resignation is a protest against the illegal sack of all the staff of Edo State College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi of which I was appointed the substantive Bursar by the then Governing council, and up till now no salary has been paid since January 2018 till date. More so, the House of Assembly candidacy which I contested for was truncated of which I was the only candidate that went through the party primary in Ovia South West constituency.”
Aimufua, who also resigned “with immediate effect” lamented that the lingering crisis in the party will consume it.
Addressing the party’s state chairman, Aimufua said, “My action is as a result of the unending internal squabbles in the party as it will badly affect the fortunes of the party in the state.”
