Against the backdrop of several illegal structures which is responsible for many slums in Nigeria’s federal capital, Abuja, the Ministers of FCT, Malam Muhammed Musa Bello and his counterpart Dr Ramatu Tijanni Aliu have warned traditional rulers, chiefs and district heads within the Nation’s capital to desist from illegal allocation of lands to unsuspecting individuals as anyone caught allocating land will face the full wrath of the law.
The Secretary Area Council Services Secretariat, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho re-echoed the position of the administration when he paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the paramount ruler of Karu (Sakaruyi of Karu) HRH. Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi
Dantsoho said it is becoming worrisome some of the roles Royal Fathers Play in the deliberate distortion of the Abuja Master Plan which has led to the illegal development of settlements that are alien to the master plan.
In his words, “Your Royal Highness, as I was planning to embark on this tour, the honourable Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello, and Her Excellency Dr Ramatu Tijani Aliu asked me to convey this message to all traditional rulers within the FCT so that they can, in turn, inform their chiefs, village heads, and district heads that anyone still in the habit of allocating plots of Land to individuals should desist from such act or be ready to have the full wrath of the law.
“It is only the FCT Minister FCT that can allocate land in the Federal Capital Territory and that is a role he performs on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who happens to be the Governor-General of the FCT.”

He charged the Royal fathers to desist from making political statements and openly supporting one candidate against the other in order not to cause troubles before, during, and after the election.
The Secretary told them the two ministers told him to tell them that within their chiefdoms they would be held responsible for any illegal land allocation.
The visit to the palace of the Sakaruyi of Karu was part of activities of the Familiarisation Tour of Abuja Municipal Area Council embarked upon by the secretary designed to serve as an on-the-spot assessment of Area councils and also a feedback mechanism for the FCT administration.
