Tension has enveloped residents of the commercial town of Nnewi Anambra state as strange bodies of three siblings of same parents were uncovered in a deep freezer in the area.
It was learnt that the incident occured at about noon on Saturday last week and it took concerted efforts of mother of the children and a search party to discover their dead bodies.
The children which include a boy aged five years, and two girls aged seven and nine respectively, were reportedly murdered and inserted into a deep freezer at a residence in Nnewichi, in Nnewi South local government area by a yet to be identified assailants.
The eldest of the siblings, a girl, Ejezie Chikaime Daviana, with the second daughter, Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica and the only son, Ejezie Chimdilim David, were said to be at home while their mother, Mrs Chikazor Ejezie, said to be a lecturer, left the house to partake in an examination on the fateful day.
The mother had on return from the examination, met the door widely opened, a development said to be unusual as the children always locked the door whenever their parent were not around.
The distraught father of the deceased siblings, Mr Ejezie Udochukwu, who is based in Irrua, Edo State, told newsmen that he received a call from his wife who told him about the ugly incident.
According to him, “My wife told me after searching for the kids by herself and a search party, without success, in despair the deep freezer was opened and behold, the dead bodies of the kids were there.”
“In the house, a bungalow where we live with two tenants and the landlord, the kids were eating when the assailants stormed the house at about noon as there was evidence of food in plates that were like forcefully abandoned.”
“The corpses of the kids have been deposited at a morgue and the police are handling the matter.”
The bereaved father in tears said, “You can see that I am completely devastated. My three kids killed same time by yet to be identified assailants.”
Residents of Nnewichi and environs and sympathizers have called for justice over the murder of the kids.
The spokesperson of market women in Nnewichi, Nne Ora, said the deceased siblings were the only consolation for their parents and what they need is justice so that the perpetrators will face the wrath of the law.
Already the police have sealed that compound where the incident took place to assist investigation in the matter.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, SP Toochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident yesterday.
He said, “The bodies have been recovered and the CP has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal investigation department, (SCID) Awka for a comprehensive or investigation.”
