Turaki’s PDP faction merges with Wike’s camp in Rivers

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, headed by Tanimu Turaki, has disbanded its structure and officially merged with the faction led by Aaron Chukwuemeka, which is aligned with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The announcement was made on Friday by the factional chairman of the Turaki-led PDP in Rivers State, Robinson Nname Ewor, during Wike’s local government visit to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state.

Ewor had, during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Thursday, accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of deceiving PDP members in the state by claiming he can take on Wike in the ongoing Rivers State political showdown.

Ewor declared that the PDP is no longer divided in Rivers State, leaving questions about the Turaki-led faction’s future hanging in the balance.

He said, “Finally before I go. I’m Sim’s PDP Chairman. I hope you people know. You people should know. I’m his Chairman.

“Today, I’m handing over that Chairmanship, leadership of that faction to Aaron Chukwuemeka.”

He declared that with the move, there was no longer any factional divide within the PDP in Rivers State.

“PDP is no longer factionalized in Rivers State. PDP is under one Chairman and under one leadership, under the FCT leader.”
