Unite The World Peace Torch Foundation celebrates Late Murtala Mohammed

 

Unite The World Peace Torch Foundation at the weekend celebrated former Military Head of State, Late Gen. Murtala Ramat Muhammed, GCFR with a memorial Peace Torch Relay held at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.

The Peace Torch Relay show also marked the 50th Golden Anniversary of his assassination which happened on February 1976.

Coach Messenger Benson (Bendo), President, Unite The World Peace Torch Foundation explained that The Memorial Peace Torch Relay which is in it’s 5th edition was initiated to honour the late Head of State, who was seen as server of the commoners in the country.

According Coach Bendo, he was forced to come up with the Peace Torch Relay idea after the Federal Government stopped observing every February 13th as a Public Holiday in honour of the former head of state.

”The main purpose of this Peace Torch Relay is to remember and celebrate Late Murtala Mohammed, who served this country with all his heart. He was a great leader, who brought himself at the same level with the poor.

”His administration brought smiles on the faces of Nigerians. Under his government prices of food items became available and affordable for the common people and people were happy with his administration.

”This Peace Torch Relay is what we do every year to remember and celebrate a great leader and patriotic Nigerian who gave his all to his people, this is the 5th edition and we’ll continue to observe it every year,” he concluded.
