VeryDarkMan owes Adeboye public apology over tribal bigot remark — Ossai Ovie

Ossai Ovie Success, an aide to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on social media activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, to publicly apologise to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, over describing the cleric as a “tribal bigot”.

Ossai made the call in a post shared on Wednesday, expressing disappointment over the activist’s remarks and insisting that Adeboye’s comments on President Bola Tinubu had been misunderstood.

According to the governor’s aide, the cleric neither ignored the country’s security challenges nor attempted to downplay them, but acknowledged the situation while also recognising the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle insecurity.

He argued that such a position reflected a balanced and responsible approach expected of a religious leader, adding that Adeboye had consistently spoken on national issues without ethnic bias throughout his decades-long ministry.

Ossai questioned the basis for the activist’s criticism, saying, “Pastor Adeboye’s comments on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were not out of context. He acknowledged existing security challenges facing the nation, commended President Tinubu’s efforts to address them and did not shy away from the realities on ground.

“That is a balanced pastoral position, recognizing both the problems and the efforts being made to solve them. Pastor Adeboye is a national spiritual leader with over five decades of ministry, known for speaking on national issues without ethnic bias. Who is VeryDarkMan to label a man of that standing a tribal bigot?”

He maintained that, in the interest of national unity, decorum and respect for religious leaders, VeryDarkMan should retract the statement and apologise publicly.

“For the sake of decorum, national unity, and respect for elders and spiritual leaders, VeryDarkMan owes Pastor Adeboye a public apology over that statement. I am disappointed in VeryDarkMan,” Ossai added.
