Deaf Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Saturday 30th August take on Gambia in the final of the 13th West Africa Deaf Football Championship holding at the Moshood Abiola National stadium, Abuja.
To get to the final, Deaf Eagles defeated Niger Republic 2-0 in the first semi-finals on Wednesday while Gambia thrashed Liberia 2-0 also, in the second semi-finals on Thursday 29th of August.
Ironically, both teams played in same group A during the preliminary rounds with Nigeria enjoying 3-2 victory over the Gambians.
However, in the 3rd place match, Liberia will face Niger Republic later today being Friday 29 August 2025 ahead of the grand finale on Saturday 30 August 2025.
Nigeria, the defending champion are seeking their 6th title, having won the trophy five times in the past with the last being in 2024 in Lagos.
With five goals to his credit, Deaf Eagles utility player and tormentor in-chief, Ike Chukwuemeka, scorer of the two goals against Niger Republic that ensured Nigeria progress into the final, is being looked onto, to deliver again.
Meanwhile, the athletics events will begin today at the same Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja and will end in the early hours of Saturday to pave way for the football grand finale.
