Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, has hailed the emergence of Prof Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman of the ruling party, describing the outcome of the national convention as a reflection of unity and strategic consensus within the party’s leadership.
Professor Yilwatda, alongside members of the National Working Committee (NWC), was returned unopposed by more than 8,000 delegates drawn from across the country during the weekend convention, a development party stakeholders say underscores growing confidence in the party’s internal cohesion ahead of key political contests.
Tenebe, in a congratulatory message personally signed and made available to journalists, said the overwhelming endorsement of Yilwatda demonstrated the trust delegates have in his leadership credentials, political experience, and commitment to strengthening the party’s structures nationwide.
According to him, the consensus-driven process highlights the APC’s determination to consolidate on its internal democratic framework while presenting a united front on national political issues.
“Your emergence, backed by the overwhelming mandate of party delegates, is a strong testament to the trust and confidence placed in your leadership, vast experience, and steadfast dedication to the growth and ideals of the APC,” Tenebe said.
He noted that the party’s leadership transition comes at a crucial moment in Nigeria’s political landscape, stressing that the APC must remain focused on strengthening its internal mechanisms and policy direction to maintain relevance and public confidence.
Tenebe expressed optimism that the new NWC under Yilwatda’s leadership would deepen party discipline and reposition the APC to deliver on its broader governance objectives.
“At this pivotal moment in our nation’s political landscape, your leadership inspires renewed optimism, stability, and clear strategic direction for the APC at all levels,” he stated.
The Edo APC chairman further assured the national leadership of the loyalty and support of party members in the state, emphasising the need for collective commitment toward sustaining party unity and electoral competitiveness.
“We are optimistic that under your stewardship, the party will continue to strengthen its structures, promote internal democracy, and uphold its commitment to delivering meaningful progress to the Nigerian people,” Tenebe added.
He reaffirmed that Edo APC remains aligned with the national leadership’s vision, expressing confidence that the renewed mandate would reinforce cohesion within party ranks and advance its long-term political objectives.
