President Bola Tinubu, yesterday received the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his entourage, who visited him in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa to pay him Sallah homage to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.

While in the Villa, Wike reaffirmed his loyalty and support, together with all FCT residents, for Mr President and the renewed hope agenda.

Among other things, the Minister expressed gratitude for the administration’s support over the past year and the innovations Mr President has introduced in the FCT Administration, enabling him to perform to the admiration of FCTA residents and staff.

Among the innovations were the FCTA’s exit from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the creation of new but critical secretariats, the grant to the Administration of a Head of Service, and the position of Permanent Secretaries in the various secretariats.

Wike also told President Tinubu that they were excited to have him come again to commission an array of projects during his second anniversary in May this year.

Recall that last year, nine completed projects were commissioned by Mr President during his first anniversary.

Addressing journalists in the Villa after the visit, Wike assured them that this year’s projects would be more than last year’s, but the committee was working on them.

During the homage, Wike said, “We congratulate you and the Muslim Ummah on completing 30 days of fasting, prayers, sacrifice and supplications to Almighty Allah.

“The holy month of Ramadan teaches us the virtues of patience, sacrifice, self-discipline, and devotion to the Almighty Allah. It reminds us of the importance of compassion, generosity, and unity, values that define us as Nigerians.

“In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan and the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr, we pray for your good health, that of the First Lady, and your entire family. May Almighty Allah bless you with wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as you steadily lead the affairs of our dear country towards greatness.”

Wike also told Mr President that his unwavering dedication to fostering good government and national unity inspires him.
“Your Excellency, as the leader of our great nation, your unwavering dedication to fostering unity, good governance, and national development inspires us all. The residents of the FCT are deeply grateful for your leadership and the initiatives being undertaken to enhance the well-being of all of us.”

Wike reiterated his loyalty to Mr President, “We reaffirm our unwavering loyalty and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and pledge our continued cooperation in ensuring the success of your exemplary programs and policies.

“Mr President, we in the FCT Administration remain profoundly grateful for the unparalleled support you have extended to us. None of the significant strides we have recorded in governance and development would have been possible without your commitment to the well-being of the FCTs and its residents.

“Your approval of the exit of the FCTA from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the establishment of two new critical Mandate Secretariats for Women and Youths, and the appointment of Permanent Secretaries have strengthened our governance structure and improved service delivery translating into a better life for the ordinary citizen on the street.”

Wike said these bold initiatives enhanced the FCTA’s efficiency and enabled him to perform and achieve milestones.

He also used the opportunity to inform Mr President about yet another round of commissions, this time during his second anniversary.

He said, “As we approach the second anniversary of your administration, we are excited about the array of impactful projects we have lined up for commissioning. These projects, designed to improve infrastructure, economic opportunities, and the overall quality of life, support your administration’s commitment to national development.

“We look forward to hosting Your Excellency in the FCT to witness firsthand the tangible progress made under your leadership over the last 12 months.”

Wike said the delegation captured and took into cognisance the diversity of the FCT.

*Charges residents on unity, recommits to development

Meanwhile, as members of the Muslim community in the FCT celebrate this year’s Eid Mubarak, Wike has charged residents with unity in the spirit of religious differences.
The Minister used the occasion to recommit to the infrastructural development of the nation’s capital.

“Ramadan is a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and an opportunity to draw closer to Almighty Allah (SWT). In His infinite mercy, I pray that the Almighty accepts all our acts of worship, supplications, and sacrifices during the blessed month and rewards us abundantly with His divine blessings.

“I commend the residents of the FCT for their acts of charity, kindness, and generosity towards one another throughout the holy month. Your commitment to supporting the less privileged, fostering community bonds, and spreading love and peace is admirable.

“The FCT is the centre of unity of our great nation, and our collective responsibility is to uphold and exhibit that unity at all times. Let us live in peace and harmony, respecting one another irrespective of religious or ethnic differences and working together for the common good.

Let me assure you that the FCT Administration remains steadfast in its commitment to the infrastructural development of the territory and the welfare and security of all residents. We will continue to prioritise policies and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in the FCT, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for all,” Wike stated.

He also charged residents to continue to pray for the well-being of Mr. President and government leaders at all levels.
