The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre generated N650 million in revenue within just three weeks of its inauguration.
Wike, who spoke during a media chat in Abuja on Thursday, said the figure represents a dramatic leap from the meagre N50 million annual revenue previously generated from the facility before its renovation.
He noted that the conference centre, which was refurbished at a cost of N39 billion by the FCT Administration, has now become a prime destination for major events, both local and international.
“The man managing the centre before was paying just N50 million annually to the FCT,” Wike said. “But since the commissioning on June 10, we’ve already made N650 million in just three weeks. Why? Because people love good things.”
Wike highlighted that the centre’s transformation has drawn the attention of global dignitaries, with the facility hosting the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) heads of state shortly after reopening.
“Ambassadors are all talking about it. There’s no space left—bookings have already extended to 2027,” he added.
