The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, inaugurated various FCTA officials at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Conference Hall in the Central Business District of Abuja.
This is coming 47 years after the creation of the FCT.
While speaking during the swearing-in, Wike stated that President Bola Tinubu had shown outstanding leadership by implementing the FCT Civil Service Commission (Establishment) Act 2018.
Describing the event as “a memorable day,” the Minister stated, “All our dreams have come to materialize,” urging the people to thank President Bola Tinubu for transforming the Territory.
The Minister recalled, “Before this period, it was difficult for any staff of the FCTA to become a Permanent Secretary.
“Today, His Excellency, President, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, has made it possible for you to reach the peak of your career.”
Among those sworn in are the newly appointed Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, Chairman, FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Eze and six Commissioners represent each of Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
The FCT Head of Service, Udo Samuel Atang, and ten Permanent Secretaries chosen from the Directors of the FCT Administration were also inaugurated.

The Minister warned the new appointees to be loyal to the President and committed to duty, adding that they would be sent packing if they performed below expectations and indulged in delaying files.
“You have been fighting for this for a long and never knew it would be this time, so if someone has taken the pains to do this… you owe Mr. President to perform and total loyalty, not 99 percent.”
He noted that it was the first time the FCT Administration was taking development to the Area Councils, revealing that the President had directed him. The Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, will provide the councils with as much infrastructure as possible in the city centre.
Wike tasked the person who would be posted to the Satellite Towns Development Department with ensuring the effective supervision of the Councils’ activities.
The Minister tasked the new Abuja Metropolitan Management Council Coordinator, Felix Amaechi Obuah, with ensuring the proper functioning of street lights, sanitation, and standardization of public buildings.
The Minister called on the Permanent Secretaries to cooperate with the Mandate Secretaries, saying there was no need to struggle over seniority and harping on teamwork because it was the only way to success.
Wike reaffirmed his Administration’s determination to improve the security of lives and property further, saying the vast infrastructural provision was ongoing. He also expressed his resolve to transform FCT schools, especially in the Councils, as soon as the budget was passed.
The Minister disclosed that the Permanent Secretaries had already been posted.
The new officials’ oaths of office were administered by the Chief Judge of the FCT, Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, who Justice Sylvanus Oriji represented.
