Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged woman identified as Chinelo Udogu for flogging her three-year-old child to death.
It was gathered that Udogu allegedly carried out the act in a fit of anger.
She was said to have put the corpse of the baby girl in a bag when she discovered that the baby had died and dumped it in a nearby bush.
A viral video circulating online had shown the woman being apprehended by some residents of Amikwo community in Awka town where she dumped the baby.
The police yesterday confirmed the incident and arrest of the culprit.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident, said, “On the incident about a woman, Chinelo Udogu, who allegedly flogged a three-year-old child to death and dumped her body in a bush at Amikwo, Awka, has been arrested, and the victim’s body recovered.

“The lesson for us to learn is that we should be cautious when angry and desist from going physical when correcting our children.”
Ikenga stated that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) for an investigation.
