Women’s World Cup: Lauren James apologises to Alozie over stomping incident

England female player, Lauren James has issued an applogy to Nigeria’s Super Falcon, Michelle Alozie over a stomping incident during the Monday match.

Lauren had earned herself a red card for stomping on the back of Alozie as she rose to her feet following a tough collision between them towards the end of regulation time.

Reacting, football lovers had berated Lauren for the incident, trolling and comparing the act to that of David Beckham in 1998 and Wayne Rooney in 2006, who represented the England’s men team.

Breaking her silence, Lauren tendered an apology to Alozie via Twitter on Tuesday

She commented under a tweet made by Alozie, urging fans to stop trolling Lauren.

“All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened. Also, for our England fans and team-mates, playing with you and for you is my greatest honour and I promise to learn from this experience.”

ThisNigeria reported that England defeated Nigeria 4-2 through a penalty shootout on Tuesday.
