Xi extends condolences over passing of former President Bouteflika

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a message of condolence to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune over the passing of former Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

In his message, Xi pointed out that Bouteflika was an outstanding statesman who contributed to the liberation movements in Algeria, the Arab world, and Africa.

He also made significant contributions to restoring the lawful seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations and deepened the China-Algeria relations.

Xi said that with the passing of Bouteflika, the Chinese people have lost a reliable friend.

The Chinese president said his country cherished its traditional friendship with Algeria, and stands ready to work with the Algerian government and people to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
