16 teams for Olukoya Ibile Cup as registration ends Thursday      

Only 16 teams will compete in the maiden Dr. D.K Olukoya Ibile Cup which kicks off on Saturday at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.

Chairperson of the Organising Committee and also chairman of the Lagos State Football and other sports supporters club, Afolashade Gbajumo, who made this known yesterday advised non-league clubs to register as fast as possible to avoid missing out of the tournament.

Registration for the tournament, according to her is ongoing at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere Lagos and will end Thursday,May 12.

She noted that the winner of the D.K Olukoya Ibile Cup will receive the sum of N200,000and a trophy.

“Our Champion will go home with Two Hundred Thousand Naira with the First and Second runner ups receiving N150,000, N50,000 while we have also resolved to make it a flawless Tournament.

“Dr D.K Olukoya is a decent and respectable personality who has not hidden his love for youth development and general transformation of youths.We are therefore seeking the co-operation of all the clubs and stakeholders between now and May 22 when it will end.”, she summarized.

Afolashade was emphatic that the tournament will throw up quality footballers while officiating will be top-notch having invited quality referees to officiate all the games.

She emphasised that there will be no extension of Thursday’s closing date for the purchase of forms.
