Aduda hints at possible defection to APC, signals political realignment in FCT

... as he hails Wike for unprecedented infrastructural development in FCT

Former Senate Minority Leader and ex-Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Tanimu Aduda, has hinted at a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need for political realignment to advance the interests of his constituents.

Aduda made the remarks during the Gbagyi Cultural Festival in Abuja, an event attended by the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud. Speaking at the gathering, the former lawmaker said the FCT would witness significant political movements in the coming weeks.

“In the coming weeks, there will be alignments and realignments,” Aduda said, a statement that sparked reactions among party supporters and political observers at the event.

Explaining his position, Aduda said his consideration of a realignment was driven by the need to ensure that the people of the FCT fully benefit from the dividends of governance being delivered by the ruling party. He noted that effective political alignment was critical for constituents to experience the impact of ongoing and future development initiatives.

The former senator also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural development across the territory. He praised Wike’s commitment to projects benefiting indigenous communities, particularly in the areas of road construction, infrastructure renewal, and public facilities.

According to Aduda, the visible transformation across the FCT has positively affected residents and reflects purposeful leadership.

While he stopped short of formally announcing a defection, Aduda’s comments have fueled speculation about an imminent switch to the APC, especially as political activities ahead of future elections begin to gather momentum. His remarks suggest a strategic political recalibration aimed at securing greater development benefits for his people.
