African parents are dream killers, says Cosmas Maduka

The Chairman of the Coscharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka has blamed African parents for killing the dreams of their children and wards.
The philanthropist, who didn’t spare himself, said the overprotective nature of parents has limited their kids who grow up with little or no hunger for success.
In a recent interview, the businessman said, “We parents are dream killers, including myself. I rode motorbikes when I was 11 years old, I had a child who was 16 years old and wanted to ride a motorbike but I refused out of fear. Why do I think I have a better sense than him? My third son, who is the only one who can drive a motorbike, learned it out of disobedience and today, I go out biking with him. I have a BMW 1600cc, and a Suzuki 1300cc so he drives my Suzuki on weekends.”
Maduka added that young people must be ready to take risks in order to find their feet, saying, “It’s good to follow instructions but sometimes it’s good to miss a road to find a road. We micro-manage our children so much.”
