African football and other sports supporters’ union president, Dr. Raufu Ladipo, has appealed to fans in Lagos to shun any unruly acts that may affect the performance the Super Eagles in the last group match against Lesotho scheduled for Teslim Balogun Stadium on March 30.
Ladipo recalled that part of the reasons why Super Eagles stopped playing in Lagos was the hostile nature of the fans.
He stressed that the fans should imbibe the spirit of true sportsmanship by continue to cheer the team until the goals start coming.
He reiterated that Lagos had been the home of Super Eagles for many years until the recent development where the team stopped playing their matches here.
“I want to commend the Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Mr. Sunday Dare and Nigeria Football Federation officials for making it possible for the Super Eagles return to Lagos after 10 years to play their last African Nations cup qualifier.
“It is in Lagos we have the sporting press, the die-hard fans…so Lagos still remains the home of football. I believe that after this game, the Super Eagles will still play more matches in Lagos before the team goes for the Nations Cup in Cameroon next year,” he added.
He, however, assured that the supporters clubs would be united under the same umbrella to cheer the Eagles to victory at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

“Just two weeks ago I summoned a meeting where I pleaded with everybody to come together under the same umbrella to cheer the Super Eagles to victory. I am doing this for the sake of the national team. And I know that before the march we would have made tremendous progress and you see a united supporters club,” Ladipo promised.
