ASUU strike: Travellers stranded as Ondo students stage joint protest

Students of various Universities in Ondo state have blocked the Ilesha-Akure road over a prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the country.

The students are from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko and Olusegun Agagu University of Technology, Okitipupa.

They barricaded the road to vent their anger over their continued stay at home due to protected industrial action by the striking lecturers.

Their action forced many motorists and travellers to be stranded as they stormed the major highway at the main entrance of the Institution.

The protesting students were chanting different solidarity songs and displayed placards with various inscriptions.
All pleadings by parents and members of the public to clear the barricade went on deaf ears.

Some student leaders at the protest arena maintained that they would continue the action until the strike was called off.

Security agents watched the protest from a distance should in case it goes out of hand.
