A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on the nation’s Service Chiefs to adopt a more ruthless and uncompromising approach in dealing with terrorists, bandits, and other violent criminals wreaking havoc across the country.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker and member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) expressed deep concern over the surge in killings and attacks in parts of Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, and Niger States, warning that public confidence in security agencies is waning.
“Nigerians are tired. Many now live in fear of the unknown because of these unending attacks,” Oyintiloye lamented. “The Service Chiefs must be more ruthless in their operations until insurgency is completely crushed.”
He acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the military and other security agencies but said more decisive and coordinated action was required to stop the bloodshed and restore peace.
According to him, “The Service Chiefs are doing their best, but they must take the bull by the horns. They should look inward, identify saboteurs within, and go hard on terrorists and their sponsors. Only then can public trust be restored.”
Oyintiloye also urged the armed forces to strengthen collaboration with local security networks and community stakeholders to improve intelligence gathering, stressing that grassroots participation remained crucial to preventing future attacks.
He further advised security agencies to “target the financial backbones of terrorist networks,” noting that cutting off funding sources would complement military offensives and disrupt criminal logistics.
While commending President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for supporting the military through increased budgetary allocations, Oyintiloye said Nigerians must play their part through patriotism, vigilance, and faith in the ongoing war against insecurity.
“With cooperation, honesty, and unity of purpose, Nigeria will overcome this dark phase,” he added.
