The application by the Lagos State government to be made a respondent in the appeal filed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has been granted by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
The Abuja Court of Appeal on Thursday ruled that Lagos has shown that it has sufficient interest to protect by being made a party in the case.
The FIRS was contesting Justice Steven Pam’s judgment on August 9 at the Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt, saying that it was Rivers government and not the FIRS that should collect Value Added Tax, (VAT) and Personal Income Tax in Rivers.
