Budget presentation: Rivers assembly deny Fubara access to complex

The Rivers State House of Assembly lawmakers on Wednesday denied Governor Siminalayi Fubara access to the complex ahead of the proposed budget presentation.
The lawmakers currently hold plenary sessions refused to open the gate of the assembly quarters to Fubara and his entourage.
Fubara is expected to re-present the budget to the State Assembly led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule following a recent Supreme Court ruling that ordered the suspension of federal allocations to Rivers State until the budget is properly presented and approved.
However, the governor was locked out of the premises upon arriving at the complex over what is believed to be a lack of official communication between Fubara and the Assembly.
Speaking to journalists outside the premises, Fubara said his attempt to present the budget was in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.
