President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE and the Governing Council of the National Institute for Labour Studies, NILS.
The reconstitution of the board and the governing council of the two bodies according to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu yesterday was as a result of the expiration of the tenure of the former members of the bodies.
The statement read: Following the expiration of the tenure of the former Board of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the new Board.”
Chairman of the NDE Board is the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, who is as statutorily provided for, the Supervising Ministers of the agency.
Other members are, Chris J. Maiyaki , representing the National Universities Commission, Mallam Lawal Y. Hafiz, representing the National Board for Technical Education, Prince Tony Omoaghe, Mrs. Obiageli B. Orah, Yamah Patience J. (Mrs.), representing the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Also as members are Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, MCIPM, mni, representing the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Mohammed Ndadoko, representing the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Industry, Dr. Yerima P. Terfa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. Rasaq Bello-Osagie, Mrs. Olubunmi Osuntuyi, representing the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Comrade Amechi Asugwuni, representing the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Collins Iriferi Umukoro, Mr. Andrew Obukohwo Egunoma and Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, the Director-General of National Directorate of Employment.
The reconstituted Governing Council of NILS has Prince Sam Okpako Onokohwomo (Kowho) as Chairman, Brigadier General Umar Gital Yusuf representing the Nigerian Army, Mrs. Omoabie Udeme Akpan, representing the Ministry of Labour and Employment, CP Falaye S. Olaleye, representing the Nigeria Police Force, Ambassador Obinna Chukwuemeka Agbugba, representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Umaru Ahmadu representing Service Strategy and Policy Office as members.
Other members of the Governing Council are, Comrade Salamatu Aliyu, representing the NLC, Comrade Babatunde Goke Olatunji, representing the NLC, Mr. Femi Mokikan, representing the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Mr. Adeniyi Ologun, representing the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Comrade Nasir Fagge, representing Nigerian Universities, and Comrade Issa Aremu, Director of NILS.
The two bodies will be inaugurated by the Supervising Minister of the NDE and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, on a date to be communicated to all appointees.
Their appointment is for a period of four years.
