President Muhhamadu Buhari has formally written the House of Representatives of the appointments of a new Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs
for the three armed forces, requesting their subsequent confirmation by the lawmakers.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, and read on the floor of the House, the President explained that his action is in compliance with Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act, Cap.A20 Laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.
He listed those to be confirmed as: Major General Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor as Chief of Defence Staff , Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff.
Others are, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, Chief of Naval staff and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao, as Chief of Air staff.
President Buhari, however, pleaded with the House to speed up the consideration and confirmation of the nominees.
