
An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded two men, Ahmed Sheriff, 26, and Olalekan Salami, 19, who allegedly beat up a man to death.
The men were arraigned on Monday on a two-count charge of murder and unlawful killing.
Their plea was, however, not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.G. Oghre, remanded the duo at Ikoyi Prison pending the outcome of legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She said the case file be duplicated and forwarded to the relevant office before the adjourned date.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Doney Raphel told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 26, at about 5.30 p.m. at Cassette bus stop, Aguda in Surulere.

He alleged that the defendants had beaten Ibrahim Ogunbiyi, 26, to death over an undisclosed matter on the said day.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 222 and 223 of the Criminal code, Law of Lagos State, 2015, which carries a death sentence.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 3.
