
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, remanded two men, Jibril Mohammed and Yakubu Yaye, in a correctional center in Lagos for alleged threat to kidnap one Ibrahim Garima in Epe, Lagos State.
The Chief Magistrate A. O. Ajibade, who did not take the plea of the defendants, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
Ajibade adjourned the case until Feb. 28 for mention.
Mohammed, 49 and Yaye, 36, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and threat to kidnap.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Kehinde Ajayi told the court that the defendants committed the offences, with others still at large, on Sep. 21, 2021, about 11p.m in the Koka area of Epe, Lagos.

Ajayi alleged that the defendants threatened to kidnap Garima, if he failed to give them the sum of N20 million as ransom.
She said that Garima informed the police of the development and the defendants were trailed and arrested.
Ajayi said the offences contravened Sections 302 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
