COVID-19 mass vaccination aims to rapidly increase uptake of vaccines
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), says COVID-19 mass vaccination aims to increase uptake of the vaccine in Nigeria to rapidly achieve herd immunity.
NPHCDA’s Executive Director, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, says the mass vaccination campaign was an initiative of the agency, state governments, and development partners.
On Thursday in Abuja that the move was meant to increase access and utilization of COVID-19 vaccines.
He explained that the campaign would expand vaccination to public and private health facilities, pharmacies, COVID-19 diagnostic centers, and high human traffic public places such as shopping malls, markets, and events centers.
“COVID-19 vaccination is not compulsory. However, with effect from Dec. 1, 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of vaccination.

“They can also present negative COVID-19 PCR test results obtained within 72 hours to gain access into their offices,’’ he said.
He restated that the COVID-19 vaccine is free, safe, and effective and that recipients should take the same type at the first and second rounds of vaccination.
Shuaib also restated that those who are 18 years and above should take the vaccines already approved by the WHO and NAFDAC. (NAN)
