Some youths in Kano on Saturday offered special prayers for Nigeria’s socio-political and economic prosperity as part of the activities marking Democracy Day.
Mr. Abba Isma’il, who led the teeming youths, said a group of patriotic Nigerians mobilized their friends for the prayers.
He said though they have been praying daily for the country’s prosperity, today’s special prayers were specifically to mark Democracy Day being celebrated nationwide.
“Every citizen of the country knows that what the country needs currently is divine intervention in many fronts.
“Challenging the leadership of the country or the system of governance will not bail us out of our predicament because we are all part of the issues,’’ Isma’il said.

One of the youth, Mr. Usman Mu’azu, stressed the need for every Nigerian to be patriotic and place the country above self.
“We the youths should not resort to vandalizing the country’s resources and infrastructure to express our displeasure.
“I am optimistic that the country will be healed so I want my children to witness the new Nigeria and I have offered what I can through prayers to realize that dream,’’ Mu’azu said.
Another youth, Nura Abubakar, also prayed for Nigeria to regain her past glory of socio-political and economic stability, as well as goodwill within the comity of nations.
In the interest of peace and unity, he urged Nigerians not to blame one section of the country for the nation’s woes.
