Energia Limited has announced the appointment of Oladimeji Bashorun as its new Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new phase of leadership for the independent oil and gas company.
The appointment, announced in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, follows the exit of former CEO, Chidi Egonu.
Bashorun, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer, takes over after playing a central role in overseeing the company’s operations and shaping its growth strategy.
As COO, he drove operational efficiency and strengthened internal processes, positioning the company for sustained performance.
Chairman of Energia, George Osahon, said Bashorun’s elevation reflects the board’s confidence in his leadership and industry expertise.
“Oladimeji Bashorun has demonstrated exceptional leadership and deep industry expertise during his time as Chief Operating Officer. His commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth has been instrumental to Energia’s progress.
“The Board is confident that under his leadership as Chief Executive Officer, the company will continue to strengthen its position as a key player in the industry, while delivering sustained value to its stakeholders,” Osahon stated.
Bashorun, a seasoned oil and gas professional with over two decades of experience, previously held key roles at Shell Petroleum Development Company and Sahara Upstream, where he contributed to operational leadership and asset performance.
Reacting to his appointment, Bashorun expressed appreciation for the opportunity to lead the company.
“I am honoured to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer of Energia. Working closely with a talented team that drives the company’s success, I look forward to building on our achievements and advancing Energia’s commitment to operational excellence, responsible energy development, and value creation for our stakeholders,” he said.
Energia said the new CEO will focus on strengthening operational performance, expanding strategic opportunities, and contributing to Nigeria’s energy security, while sustaining environmental stewardship and community development.
The company reiterated its commitment to responsible energy development, safety, and long-term value creation as it positions itself for the future.
