C’River governor’s convoy kill NSCDC personnel in Calabar

A personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) was on Saturday evening killed by one of the vehicle attacked to the convoy of the Governor of Cross River, Sen. Bassey Otu.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the officer identified as Ashibi Christopher, was knocked down along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar.
According to an eyewitness account, the NSCDC personnel eho was reportedly knocked down by the last vehicle on the convoy, died on the spot.
The State Command of the security outfit confirmed the demise of the officer but, however, failed to mention what led to his death.
The officer who pleaded anonymity, however, failed to disclose what led to the death of the personnel.
“It is true that we lost an officer yesterday, but what i can’t tell you right now is what led to his death.
“The state Commandant is not around at the moment, but he has been briefed. An investigation will be conducted upon his return tomorrow (Monday),” stated the officer.
Meanwhile, the government of Cross River has described the incident as unfortunate and expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased officer.
Speaking with the NAN, Dr Erasmus Ekpang, Commissioner of Information, however, noted that an investigation would be conducted on what happened.
