Former Ghanaian striker, Raphael Dwamena dies during match

Raphael Dwamena, a former Ghana international and KF Egnatia striker, has died at the age of 28 after suffering a heart attack on the pitch during a match in Albania.

Dwamena collapsed in the 23rd minute of the game against Partizani Tirana on Saturday, with the score at 1-1.

He was taken to a hospital in Kavaja, where he was pronounced dead after another cardiac arrest.

According to reports, Dwamena had a history of heart problems and had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) fitted in 2021, after fainting during a game in Austria.

He had previously been diagnosed with a heart defect in 2017, which prevented him from joining English club Brighton.

Dwamena was the top scorer in the Albanian Super League this season, with nine goals in 11 games. He also scored two goals in eight appearances for Ghana, making his debut in 2017.
