The personal intervention by way of personal monitoring of fuel stations and pronouncements of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu against hoarding and fuel hike has brought reprieve to fuel consumers in some parts of the state.

It was observed that fuel dealers mostly in the Northern District (Akoko) had refrained from selling the product after 7p.m while roadsides black market sellers selling at exorbitant rates have ceased operation, especially in Semusemu and Jubilee axis of Ikare Akoko.

As at press time, three trailers of petrol were discharging petrol at three different filling stations in Ikare, Ugbe, and Arigidi while long queues were not noticed.

This is because a popular filling station along Hospital road, Ikare sold normal price to the public yesterday thereby reducing the hardship faced by fuel users gradually.

A motorist from Erusu, Mr. Edward Oladeinde hailed the proactive efforts of governor Akeredolu for warning the unscrupulous fuel dealers who can not emulate those few selling at normal price.

He appealed to a government task force to be sincere to the state government by sanctioning erring fuel dealers and penalizing them to serve as a deterrent to others.

An Akungba-Akoko community leader reiterated that policy pronouncements of Akeredolu on Okerigbo and the recent one on fuel crisis are people-oriented policies and pronouncements that deserve commendations.
Awesome noted that incessant trailer accidents are now a thing of the past on the notorious Okerigbo hills.

He warned people against buying fuel at home or carrying it about to avoid fire incidents.
