Hearing of Assault on Policeman in Edo Continues Thursday

Hearing will resume on Thursday 15th October 2020 at the High Court, Benin in the case of assault on a policeman, preferred against one Kingsley Isah and 16 others.
Trial judge, Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, last week granted bail to the accused and adjourned hearing till October 15.
Kingsley Isah, 24 and 16 others were arraigned before a High Court in Benin City over allegations of attacking and beating a police officer to stupor in Edo state.
Of the 16 other suspects are Emmanuel Omoruyi 20, Bright Okuomoise 24, Obi Henry 20, Mathew Makata 16, Success Nowamagbe 16, Lucky Nowamagbe 15, Prosper Uhumwnagho 17, Richard Aiyemwomwan 18, and Ejeu Godstime 18.
Others are, Osaremien Osayuki, Terfa James 20, Osaretin Aisosa 19, Princewll Victor 19, Osagie Precious 21, Kelvin Nowamagbe 19 and Kokobi Paul aged 18.
The accused persons were arraigned on a five-count charge punishable under sections 516, 320, 64(a), 516 of the Criminal Code and section 3(1) of the Robbery act.
In the suit number B/845m/2020, the suspects were accused of attempted murder and belonging to unlawful society.
They were also accused of unlawfully attacking one Sergeant Kingsley Asemota by beating him to stupor with intent to kill him as well as unlawful possession of locally made cut to size gun and other dangerous weapons.
Other offences preferred against the suspects include, intent to commit crime, belonging to Eiye Supreme Cult Confraternity as well as unlawful possession of firearms.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty to the charges in Court and Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, however granted them bail and adjourned hearing till October 15.
