Helicopter crashes at Salvation Road, Opebi

It was a dark day on Salvation Road on Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos State as a helicopter, which was close to landing at the Murtala Muhammed Aiport, crashed at No 16A, Salvation Road yesterday.
The helicopter was a Bell 206-3 with registration number 5N-BQW and belonged to Quorum Aviation. It took off from Port Harcourt, Rivers State and was working perfectly until it crashed at around 12:30 pm, though eyewitness claim that the rotors of the helicopters stopped working before it came down.
Two crew members were said to have died immediately, while the sole survivor of the crash died while been treated at LASUTH in Ikeja.
However, hours after the crash, Nosa Okunbor, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), says that the third survivor is also dead.
According to the Director-General of LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the black box of the helicopter has been retrieved by the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB). He also said that the entire area will be fumigated and the affected buildings checked for structural integrity to ensure there are no further hazards.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Agency (NCAA) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in addition to other agencies have participated to recover the wreck of the helicopter.
And President Muhammadu Buhari, Bola Tinubu, and Governor Godwin Obaseki have extended their condolences to the bereaved families.
