A Lagos-based lawyer, Festus Ogun, has taken Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to court over being blocked on Twitter (now X) for nearly three years.
Ogun filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking to compel Sanwo-Olu to unblock him and issue a public apology.
The lawsuit claims the blockage violates Ogun’s constitutional right to freedom of expression.
Ogun is asking the court to declare the blockage unconstitutional and order Sanwo-Olu to unblock him.
Notably, Ogun is not seeking monetary compensation, but rather a public apology and access to Sanwo-Olu’s tweets. The case is set to proceed in court.
