LASTMA officials under fire after tricyclist kills self over seized ‘keke napep’

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), have come under attack after a yet-to-be-identified tricyclist ended his life after failing to secure the release of his keke napep, which was seized by the officials.

It was gathered that the deceased pleaded with the officials for several days to release the keke napep to him as it was his only means of livelihood.

Following his failure to get his tricycle back, the unidentified rider was said to have hung himself in front of the Ikorodu office of LASTMA.

Reacting, some netizens knocked the officials for the way the treat road users in the state.

A X.com user, Gabriel Bolatito said, “This is quite unfortunate and a preventable incidents. The enforcement agencies should also have some level of human empathy not just being stubborn and wicked some of the time.”

“This Lastma people are evil and they are doing more damage than good on the roads. They are there to direct but instead they are always waiting for vehicles and keke to hold,” @Ishow_leck lamented.

@Jatiti_Of_Lagos wrote, “The LASMA officers who approached me when I had a flat tire on the third mainland bridge were retired area boys and agberos. Instead of offering to assist with fixing the tire, they immediately demanded to tow my car to their office and insisted that I pay a fine of 70k. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience.”

“This is really sad!
Rest in peace to the dead.🕊️
But I am curious, will they arrest the LASTMA officials who where involved in ceasing his Keke?” @NotUrKev asked.

“This is pure evil from LASTMA officers. The country is hard already. May his soul rest in peace,” Ayo Eleniyan stated.

Yinka Afe wrote, “If no one saw him while doing this, then it’s not in front of the LASTMA office, this has to be investigated properly and the govt should try to make this nation a better place to live in.”
